Only about two weeks until Christmas?!
I can’t believe how fast the time is passing. But it is joyful feeling in December, isn’t it?
Is your child waiting for Santa?
How has s/he been this year?
Did the elf on the shelf come to your house?π
What is your child wishing for Christmas?
What does s/he want to get as a Christmas gift from Santa?
Ohh! so exciting!
Let’s bring this excitement to learning.π€π
Write a Letter to Santa
You can ask many open-ended questions to your child – like above β
Then suggest to write a letter to Santa.
MATERIALS you need:
- letter templates (4 pages)
- writing materials (pencils/markers/pens)
- scissors
- glue
Here, I made letter templates for you.
You can let your child use the first two lined pages to write her/his letters, if s/he wants to.
But if your child doesn’t really know how to write yet, don’t worry! This activity is still good for your child. I actually made this thinking of toddlers and preschoolers who do not know how to write.
Do you see my last page with some words and phrases? Toddlers and preschoolers can cut those out and put them in order to say what they want to say in their letters. They just need a bit of help from you! π Read the words and phrases for your child and help her/him make sentences by arranging them; Don’t forget to leave a space to write what they want to get.
Letter To Santa Activity.
Practice simple sentences and learn the functions of letters and words.
If your child wants to try writing by herself/himself, try with simple word.
For the gift part, s/he has to write it by herself/himself. π No choice if s/he wants to let Santa know what s/he is wishing for Christmas!
If the letter is ready, your child can move on to decorating a Christmas tree.
Decorate a Christmas Tree for Santa
Print out the template with a tree drawn and let your child colour it with markers, crayons, paints, watercolours or whatever they want to use to decorate it.
Bring an envelope, put the letter and the tree art in the envelope, and send it to Santa.
Parents, I don’t know if you know about this but I have just found this!π²π
In Canada, there is “Santa letter program” and children can really send a letter to Santa through Canada Post. If the letter is sent before the deadline – December 10 for 2020 – the child can get a reply from Santa! Cool!
If you live in Canada, check the Canada Post website by clicking my link above.
Even if the deadline is passed, encourage your child to write and send one letter because s/he can do this only once a year. Only in the Christmas time!

I hope you can have a quiet bonding time with your child, doing this writing activity together.
Happy quality time!
