Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

*Mini Class video coming at the end

Did you watch the movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs?” It’s not my favourite but I enjoyed watching them (1 & 2).

Movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”

I think the idea of having meatball rain is just creative and fun and I’ve actually just found out that it was inspired by the children’s book of the same name written by Judi Barrett!😲 Did you know that?!

So I checked the book and I love the story of the original book!

Book “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”

The book is a little bit long but because the story is so fascinating, I think you can read it even to toddlers.

You can find and buy this book easily on the internet.

Get the book and read it together with your child. It can be a good bedtime story.

(Yes, I recommend the book, not the movie. The movie is not really appropriate for our young children.)

Book “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”

The illustrations are different from contemporary children’s books; This book by Judi Barrett was first published in 1978, and it’s a good opportunity for our young children to look at different types of drawing and art.

The book “Cloudy with …… “ will definitely stimulate your child’s curiosity and creativity. So I recommend giving simple activities after reading the book some times.

Activity Template Made By Everyday Funday

Print out these templates and give to your child with some drawing materials. (If you are not getting my templates, you can draw them by yourself.)

And ask,

What do you think is gonna happen if the weather tomorrow is cloudy with a chance of meatballs?

Your child can imagine what’s gonna happen or what s/he is going to do about the meatball rain and draw them on the template.

If you are gonna be sitting beside your child during the activity, you can ask various questions.

What are you gonna do if the meatballs are the normal size?

What are you gonna do if you get giant meatball rain?

What kind of rain would you like to get?

What kind of wind would you like to get?

I made two more templates with different rains.😁

Encourage to do this activity when you want to spark your child’s creativity and imagination.

Remember the goals of this activity.

Practicing creativity/imagination

Talking with your child (listening and sharing thoughts)

One-on-one time

Practicing expressing ideas

Having fun with imagination

Practicing to do things independently

Have fun with this classic and magical story!
