The best way to encourage children to be creative and independent is setting up a play invitation. Did you hear me? Not an “activity table”!
Here is a simple play invitation that you can give to your child while you’re enjoying a cup of coffee.
Materials
- White tissue paper (big size)
- Stamps
- Ink pad (if needed)
How To
On your child’s table, spread a white tissue paper.
(Tip: Make sure you put something underneath the tissue paper – like newspapers – because the ink will bleed through the thin tissue paper and stain table.)
Leave some stamps and ink pad on the table.
Your child’s can make designs on the tissue paper with stamps.
Learning Goals
✦ Fine motor skills
✦ Seeing cause-and-effect
✦ Experimenting with different materials
✦ Creativity
✦ Learning about patterns and making patterns
A distinct point of wrapping paper is that there is a pattern in design.
If you can sit with your child, you can explain about pattern. If you can’t, you can just leave a picture of pattern like this on the table.
It’s not that children have to make a pattern in this play. We just want to give an opportunity to have new findings from new things.
⭐️ The biggest point of this play is actually boosting children’s self-esteem by putting their artwork into use in real life.
Save their artworks on tissue paper and use them for actual gifts!
When children see that their artworks can be a gift for somebody, it will make them feel so good about themselves and their work. Simple but amazing way to make your child feel proud of herself/himself.😊
Happy learning and quality time!
