What Can We Do When We are Hurt? – Wrinkled Heart

Rather than trying to show only good things in the world, I want to be an adult who can show how to deal with negative things in the world and move forward in life.

Have you ever seen the crumpled paper art?

It’s a process art activity that toddlers and preschoolers can enjoy.

Have you ever heard the wrinkled heart lesson then?

The crumpled art activity reminds me of the wrinkled heart lesson. It’s a lesson that teachers (more of teachers who teach older children) like to give in their classrooms to teach about empathy and bullying.

I think it’s an amazing lesson and the wrinkled paper heart that is used in the lesson is a wonderful tool to teach this. But one day, this thought came to me.

“Yes, it’s important to teach this to our children. But….. there are times that our feelings are hurt despite of our effort and we end up with a wrinkled heart. If it happened unfortunately, what are we gonna do with it?”
