We’ve finally started to have winter weather. It’s too chilly to step out of the house without a jacket.
And it’s too chilly to stay awake and live a life outside for some animals. Like frogs, bears, turtles, tortoises, hedgehogs and groundhogs.
It’s a good time to learn about animal’s hibernation, so I brought a book about hibernation.
Book “A Loud Winter’s Nap” by Katy Hudson
In the book, we see a tortoise who is trying to find a place to hibernate because tortoises normally go on hibernation in winter. But because of other animals who are still active in winter, tortoise has a hard time finding a place to sleep quietly. During the journey of finding a perfect place for hibernation, tortoise sees and experiences fun winter activities. At the end, he realizes that winter is not so bad and he might be a little special tortoise who likes the winter.
If you want to teach about the general informations about hibernation, this book might not be a perfect book for you.
But if you want to teach about an open mind, life wisdom to overcome hard situations and a growth mindset, this book can be good.
In the episode 75 of Teacher Gela Podcast, I guide you through the story of the book and the list of questions that you can think about with your child in your quality time.
Listen to it now and get ready to use this book this week when the timing is still good – the end of November!
Happy learning and quality time!
