What’s your favourite leaf activity?
One of my favourite is stamping with real leaves. Let the children observe the leaves first with a magnifying glass. See how the veins are spread on a leaf. Thick ones and thin ones. And then replicate them on a paper!
It is very easy to do it. Preschoolers will be able to do it by themselves. If you have a toddler child, you can help him/her by just holding the stem(petiole) and letting him to cover the leaf with paint.
Once the leaf is all covered with paint, take it to a paper, carefully flip it, put it on the paper and cover it with a paper towel. Paper towel will help the leaf stay on one spot and prevent being ripped in the process of rubbing. Press the paper towel and leaf down and gently rub them. Lift the paper towel off and then the leaf from the paper and ta-da! You made a colourful leaf on a paper, looking so real.
I sprinkled some glitters on the top. Beautiful ๐
Try with different types of leaves in different sizes.
๐๐ Extended Activity ๐๐
Make lots of leaves on a big paper.
Take a photo of you/your child blowing, print it and cut it out.
Add the blowing photo to the leaf stamping art.
It’s a fall masterpiece!
Try it before you rake the leaves ๐คช
