Have you ever seen a real snowflake?

I remember a winter night, waiting for a bus outside, under the street light. It was cold. But it was snowing beautifully. My eyes were following the snow slowly falling from the sky. When they reached the ground, I could see the shape of each snowflake! ❄️💙

Seeing a snowflake in real life is not easy, but you can search the photos of real snowflake, observe, study and create it with your child, so when they happen to see the real snowflake, they can recognize it.

And the snowflake shape is just so beautiful to create as an art piece. 😆

So here are two ways of creating a snowflake.❄️

Q-TIP SNOWFLAKE

1. Search and print out a snowflake drawing from the internet.
2. Set up the table with Q-tips – some are cut in half, lots of liquid glue, paints and paint brushes.
3. Find the Q-tips of the right length and glue them on top of the snowflake drawing.
4. Let them dry for a while.
5. Bring paints ;acrylic paints work great, and any kinds of paint brushes.
6. Colour the Q-tips with paints and sprinkle some glitters on top.
7. Extra: I cut the snowflake out of paper, glued it on a paper bag and cut that out again with the handle of paper bag. You can hang it on a nail or on a Christmas tree now 😃

PASTA SNOWFLAKE

1. Search and print out a snowflake drawing from the internet.
2. Set up the table with different kinds of dry pasta, lots of liquid glue, paints and paint brushes ; If you are doing the activity with your child or if any other adult is available, the adult can use the hot glue for the pasta-gluing part.
3. Let them dry for a while ; Liquid glue will require more time to dry.
4. Colour the pasta snowflakes with paints and add glitters, too!

Preschoolers and Kindergarteners will like to do this activity by themselves. You can let them create their own designs of snowflake for the older children.
