[COOKING] Summer Treat S’mores

When I went camping last week, I tried making s’mores from campfire for the first time. 😜 Because I was trying to reduce the consumption of sugar, I only had two of them.

After I came back home, I craved more s’mores!

Have you ever had the same experience as me? How about your child?

I’m sure if s/he tried s’mores at camping, s/he would mention it again when s/he came home. Hehe.

Today I tried making s’mores at home and I want to encourage you to try it, too. Of course, with your child! Make snack that you both like and have an enjoyable time together!

Summer Treat S’mores

Ingredients

  • Crackers
  • Chocolate bar
  • Jumbo marshmallows

How To

Place a few crackers on a baking tray covered with aluminum foil.

Put a marshmallow on top of the crackers.

Put the tray under the “broil” option on your oven.

(I put my tray on the bottom rack with 410℉, for 4 minutes. The time in the oven can vary depending on ovens but make sure you check it every minute since things can burn very fast under the broil option.)

When the top of marshmallows is brownish, take them out of the oven.

Place a piece of chocolate on top of the marshmallow and push it down gently.

Cover it up with another cracker.

I had an open vegetable🥕 crackers so I used them. 🤣Not the best but I didn’t mind much. Lol.

Making S’mores At Home by Everyday Funday

The same way that you make your s’mores at camping, right? 😅

But that’s why I suggest you to do it at home with your child. Reminisce about the time at camping – or other times that you made s’mores together. → 🍒 Feeling the bond

And also,

You can talk about the order of making a s’more. → 🍒 Sequencing

Your child can try making a s’more by herself/himself. → 🍒 Independence, Self-esteem

Talk about the texture of marshmallow and how it changes with heat. → 🍒 Sensory experience

Give yourself the special summer treat when you need some sweets. → 🍒 Self-care 😉

I want to give you a simple play that you can do with your child after having the snack.

I found a cute marshmallow song on YouTube.

It’s 3 minutes long and fun.😄

You can play it for your child after snack.

Happy learning and quality time!
