How is your Mother’s Day weekend going?
If you get to spend some time with your own mother, that’s great! My mother said she would be busy on the weekend so I’m planning to see her on Monday. Haha, it’s funny but actually I’m really happy to see my mom being busy in her own life.
Even though your child is so little and s/he doesn’t know much about Mother’s Day yet (😂), you can enjoy the day, reminding your little one about your unconditional love for her/him. And don’t forget to remind yourself as well that you are doing great as a mom.
I suggest reading this book for the Mother’s Day with your child.
Book “With My Mummy” by James Brown
In the book, you can see many little moments when mommy and child do things together and enjoy the time together. Like getting ready in the morning, baking together and bath time.
Read this book with your child and ask questions to learn about your child’s thoughts and strengthen the bond.
Questions that you can ask:
Was there anything that we do together too? What was it?
Was there anything that we don’t usually do together but you want to try? What was it?
When is your favourite time with mommy? Why?
My favourite time with you is ……
If you have a time to do something with your child, after reading the book, I suggest to try this activity.
Face Made with Flowers
Materials
- Mirror
- Clear vellum paper (clear adhesive wallpaper/vinyl/transparency film etc.)
- White paper
- Permanent marker (dark colour)
- Flower petals (different kinds)
- Liquid glue
How To
Cut your clear paper in the size of 8×11 (approximately)
Tape the cut paper on your mirror.
I used clear self-adhesive paper (contact paper) and it was very convenient because I could just stick it on the mirror.
This is how it will look like if you use contact paper.
It’s blurry but it’s okay. Enough for our purpose.
Stand in front of the mirror so your face is on the mirror, and inside of the paper.
Ask your child to trace your face on the paper with a permanent marker.
If your face is drawn on the paper, take the paper off from the mirror. And stick it on a white paper.
Prepare flower petals.
Gently pull off petals from each flower and put them on the side.
You don’t have to pull apart all the flowers. I mainly used the outside part of each flower. (Because my heart was aching when I pulled the petals. 🥺)
If you got some petals and leaves, let your child decorate the face with flowers and liquid glue.
