Valentine’s Day is coming in about a week!
Are you planning to do something special with your loved ones? Do you have a baby? And you want to celebrate the first Valentine’s Day but don’t know what you can do with this little human being?
Don’t worry! I got an idea.

To do this activity, you will need to cut a big heart out of cardboard.
This might be the hardest part of the activity. I just drew a heart on a cardboard with pencil and cut it out with X-acto knife ; My hearts are not exactly the same 😉
The main material that we are gonna use to decorate a heart is puffy paint! Ta-da!

How to Make Puffy Paint
Prepare shaving cream, liquid glue, flour, food colouring and small bowls.
In a small bowl, mix shaving cream, liquid glue and flour together. The proportion of each ingredient is not very important. Find your favourite consistency as you mix them. I actually made three different bowls of puffy paint with different consistency, to make it more fun.
*(I would not worry about using shaving cream here because this activity is supposed to be done with mom/dad/caregiver for quality time together. Just watch and make sure your baby doesn’t put it in her/his eyes or mouth. )
Add different colours of food colouring to each bowl.
Leave a popsicle stick / spoon / plastic knife if you want to scoop it out easily.

Alright!
This would be a setting for preschoolers, in case you are working with your older children 😁
For a baby, you bring the cardboard heart in front of your baby; if you glue it on a big paper, it’s easier for baby to play with, put some puffy paint on the heart and show what s/he can do with it.

Give some pompoms, foamy hearts and big-size spangles to play with puffy paint.

Listen 🧚✨,
the important word here is “play“. We are not trying to make a perfectly beautiful heart with our babies. It’s about the process. Give your baby a chance to touch and feel the puffy paint and move their fingers and hands in it.

If you want to keep the heart as an art piece, hanging like this is one way.

But more importantly, you made a good memory with your baby for the first Valentine’s Day.
Happy Valentine’s Day!!🥰❤️
