Travel Guide for Your Mental Health – Groundedness

I hope I don’t need to have an uneasy trip again but the strategies that I found from my last trip will be forever kept in my back pocket.

I got back home last Thursday from my month-long trip to Korea.

Let me first say this, the trip wasn’t bad. It actually went well regarding the purposes and results, and I was healthy and I had many good moments there.

So you might be wondering what’s the matter then?

It was just my mental state. Yeah that was the problem and even though I knew that all the problems were in my mind, it was hard. It was not easy to fix it. When you have a gloomy mindset, it’s like you have a gloomy filter on your eyes. Nothings seems very interesting.

I struggled the most in the second week of my trip and I had two more weeks to go. (I wanted to stay there for a month to observe the recovery process of my eyes after surgery.) I was only into the half of the trip and I hated that I was not enjoying my time. A month is a long time. It’s 1/12.

So, one day I sat down in a cafe with my journal, with unclear and clear purposes. I was not sure what I was gonna write but I knew that after the inner work time, I would be able to find a direction.

There are three main things that I did and I recommend for whoever having a hard time with ungroundedness during a trip.

  1. Journaling
  2. Using positive affirmations
  3. Doing your usual things

Listen to the podcast episode and hear the details of them.

I was very happy while I was preparing notes for this episode. I hope my strategies can help you as much as they did to me.♥︎
