How to Stop Worrying with Book “Avocado Feels a Pit Worried”

When do you feel worried?

Let’s think about daily life.

I’m worried when I need to go to work and work with someone that I have unresolved issue. I’m worried when there is a warning for heavy rainfall and I have to drive. I’m worried when there is a child in the class who has difficulty of being separated from mom.

I mean, they look like small things but they are all moments that make me feel worried. Even though they are small worries, worries are worries.

Feeling worried is not a good state to be in and it can prevent me from experiencing my life fully. And it’s the same for children.

When children are worried, they might not want to participate in any play. They might not want to move from a corner of the classroom. They might not be able to communicate their needs.

“Anxiety” is not a hard topic for toddlers or preschoolers because it’s a feeling that they experience in their lives.

The book “Avocado Feels a Pit Worried” tells us a story of an anxious avocado. I should say “once-anxious” because the avocado becomes an adventurous avocado at the end of the story.

You will also learn the questions that you want to ask to your child after reading the book, to help your child further understand the anxiety and learn how to deal with it.

Some Things to ask/talk about

  • What happen to Avi’s body when he was worried?
  • What surprise did Avi get with the loud noise “Thump! Thud!”?
  • What did Avi realize after meeting new friends?
