[Cooking] Prune Is Yummy, Too | Book “Giraffes Can’t Dance”

Do you like prunes?

I first learned about prunes when I was looking for a way to relieve constipation from taking iron supplements.

For about a year, I took the supplements and prunes – like a set – diligently. But it wasn’t easy to eat the prunes by itself, so I stopped taking the set all together.

Recently, however, I felt light-headed quite often and I knew that I had to start taking the supplements again.

To make the iron-and-prune-taking easier, I decided to make breakfast bars with prunes.

If your child has a constipation issue, you should try making this, too.

😌 Prunes are effective!

I referred to the recipe from A Pretty Life.

I said “referred” because I changed quite many things due to the missing ingredients.😬

But I loved my final product!

They were yummy and healthier actually!

So keep reading! Hehe

Prune Breakfast Bar

Prune Breakfast Bar/Square by EVERYDAY FUNDAY

This is how I made, referring to the recipe from A Pretty Life.

Ingredient

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup chopped prunes
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/8 cup & 1 tbsp oat milk
  • 1/8 cup & 1 tbsp honey

How To

  1. Preheat the oven to 350℉
  2. Put all the dry ingredients (oats, flour, shredded coconut, sliced almonds, chopped prunes) together in a bowl.
  3. In a small bowl (microwave-safe), put coconut oil, oat milk and honey together and melt them in the microwave. (Only until they are melted)
  4. Put baking soda to the melted mixture and mix.
  5. Line your baking pan with a parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes.
  7. Let it cool and cut into squares.

I didn’t have a small baking pan (8×8), so I just baked mine in a bigger pan by filling only the half of the big pan. I was glad it worked! 😉

After 15 minutes of baking, my oatmeal breakfast bar seemed okay, but I wanted it to be golden so I left it in the oven for a few more minutes.

Friends, it’s perfect for breakfast!🍽

I was very happy with the final product.

It’s not sweet.

It’s made with healthy ingredients.

But it’s yummy!

Talk with your child about the prunes inside the bar.

How sweet they are in the bar!

It may not look so appetizing first but when it goes in to a breakfast bar, it becomes a key ingredient and makes the breakfast bar so yummy.

So here,

I want to add one more thing to strengthen the lesson.

Book “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae

Book “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Giles Andreae

Get this book and read it after baking the prune breakfast bar.

You child will understand the lesson better. 🙂

(It’s a story about a giraffe who thought he couldn’t dance but found out that he could dance and he just needed a different music to dance to.)

Great story for SELF-ESTEEM and SELF-LOVE.💛

Happy learning and quality time!
