St.Patrick’s Day is coming. Do you celebrate St.Patrick’s Day?
I’m not Irish and I don’t personally celebrate the day.
But I think it’s always good to learn about other cultures because they are important things to some people who are living with us in this world together.
Book “Pete The Cat – The Great Leprechaun Chase”
This book, “Pete The Cat – The Great Leprechaun Chase” is a good book to introduce your child to one of the Irish culture on St.Patrick’s Day.
Leprechaun is an Irish fairy who can be found at the end of a rainbow with a pot of gold according to the Irish folklore.
Pete the cat in the book tries to catch a leprechaun “Clover” to have luck for his friends. But when he catches Clover, he learns that he can make his own luck instead of chasing and taking it from outside.
I like this book because it has a life lesson in addition to introducing an Irish culture, about realizing that we are the master of our lives.
You don’t need to look for lucks from outside.
You can create your own luck from inside.
To make this learning sink in your child’s mind, I recommend this play-dough play.

Materials
- Play-dough mats

How To
Print out the rainbow templates.
You can laminate the template or put it in a sheet protector.
I put mine in a reusable dry erase pocket. Use that if you have one. It makes playing easier.
Give play-dough in rainbow colours.
There is a guideline to “the pot of valuable things” 🍯 to give an idea of creating a rainbow towards the goals.
There is one without a guideline, too.
If your child wants to make a complete creative path.😉
Extended Play
To further extend the play, you can add plastic knives, small pots, jewels or small creatures.
